Review summary

Users appreciate Quick Dial for its customization, ease of use, and speed as a bookmarks and speed dial extension. However, multiple reviews highlight the lack of a dedicated backup/export feature for settings as a significant drawback. Some users face conflicts with other extensions like uBlock Origin, leading to unexpected behavior when opening links. The right-click context menu integration is missing in recent versions, and resetting after malfunctions is cumbersome without a backup system. Despite these issues, it remains a preferred choice for many due to its simplicity and functionality.
Pros
  • Highly customizable and configurable with options to set appearance and placement of bookmarks and directories on the home page.
  • Easy to use with intuitive settings.
  • Lightweight and fast compared to similar add-ons.
  • Reliable favorite for many users over several years.
  • Provides an alternative to other popular speed dial extensions.
Cons
  • Lacks an export/backup feature for its settings; users have to back up the entire Firefox profile to save configurations.
  • Sometimes conflicts with other extensions like uBlock Origin causing new links not to open properly in new tabs.
  • Occasional malfunctions requiring resets, causing inconvenience without backup options.
  • Missing 'Add to Quick Dial' option in right-click context menu in recent Firefox versions.
  • Ordering of thumbnails can get disorganized when installed on different machines.

2026-06-22 Fi***** Highly recommended! This add-on is very useful and time-saving, with many configuration options (I use an 8x7 layout). Unfortunately, after recent Firefox updates the context menu no longer works, so there is currently no way to edit or delete a bookmark.

2025-04-17 Ja***** This add-on (QD) is the only one that meets my requirements for the placement of bookmarks and directories on the Home page and the ability to set their appearance, it is easy to use and the settings are intuitive. It has two disadvantages: 1. when you open FF by clicking on a link on the PC, sometimes the link does not open in a new panel, but the Quick Dial panel. I found out that the problem is in the coexistence of the Quick Dial and uBlock Origin add-ons. If uBlock Origins is enabled on QD and its list of allowed domains contains the lines: chrome-extension-scheme moz-extension-scheme then the link opens correctly. 2. QD does not have the option to backup its settings, you can only backup its bookmarks along with others in the standard way in FF. If I do not want to lose all settings, I have to backup the entire profile. That is why I use the portable version of FF, which has the entire profile in a single "Profile" folder.

2024-05-21 Se***** Worked great before, now on version 126 it's a blank screen and right click context menu in any page is missing the "add to quick dial" selection. Seems to be broken
