PrivateBookmark Firefox

PrivateBookmark

By: Woocash
Looks for bookmarks containing keyword (defined in preferences) in the title field. For all found URLs a listener is defined that cancels request in normal window and instead opens a new private tab for the url.

Features & Capabilities

This add-on register listener on webRequests (only for URLs marked in bookmarks as private). Original request is blocked and instead URL is open in a new private window (or in already opened if one exists).

Private bookmarks are those containing keyword defined in preferences page (default is "private"). Keyword must be included in the title field of a bookmark. This is a bit inconvenient but current WebExtensions API does not support any other bookmark field. Once API is updated I will add support also for marking private bookmarks using TAGs.

You can trace progress of API development in here

Happy private browsing!

Is PrivateBookmark Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

PrivateBookmark requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.
