Silk - Privacy Pass Client Firefox

Silk - Privacy Pass Client

Client support for Privacy Pass anonymous authorization protocol.

Features & Capabilities

Silk - Privacy Pass Client is a Chrome extension designed to support the Privacy Pass anonymous authorization protocol. It provides unlinkable cryptographic tokens for websites that implement Privacy Pass, such as those protected by Cloudflare, improving your human signal and reducing friction during verification challenges.

The extension automates the token acquisition process: when a site requests a Privacy Pass token, Silk prompts you to complete the associated challenge. Upon successful completion, the extension securely obtains a token to streamline future access without compromising your privacy. This tool leverages Cloudflare Research's Privacy Pass providers and is ideal for users seeking enhanced privacy and seamless browsing on protected sites. For more details, FAQs, and troubleshooting, refer to the extension's official documentation and support links.

User Reviews

Most reviews say Silk is largely non-functional: it frequently triggers Cloudflare captchas, loops, or returns errors without solving the target site's challenge. Several users report conflicts with extensions like uBlock, causing looping behavior or errors. Other reviews mention intrusive behavior of opening new tabs for attester verification and a lack of updates/maintenance (abandonware). Only one review hints at a potential captcha reduction on some sites; overall, the add-on appears unreliable and not worth using.
Pros
Cons
  • Not working / broken: reports of Cloudflare captchas not solving the target challenge, errors, and endless loops.
  • Causes additional captchas instead of reducing them.
  • Conflicts with uBlock/other extensions, triggering loops or errors.
  • Intrusive behavior: opens new tabs to verify an attester without clear consent.
  • Abandoned / not maintained: lack of updates and GitHub activity.

Completely broken. The cloudflare captcha fails with an error on the freaking pp-attester-turnstile.research.cloudflare.com/challenge page, as well as endless looping on the sites I want to visit.
