BLE Activator

Activator is a service tool for waking sleeping Bluetooth Low Energy devices.
Such devices switch on their scanner periodically for a narrow time window and
wake up when they receive a specific advertising frame. This app transmits that
frame.

WHAT IT DOES

• Broadcasts an iBeacon-format frame with fixed, built-in parameters.
• Transmits at the lowest power the platform exposes, so the wake-up range stays
as short as possible. The power actually selected by the phone's radio is shown
on screen — it is often higher than requested, because the hardware rounds it
to its own levels.
• Uses a short advertising interval, so it hits the device's narrow scan window
on the first approach rather than after several attempts.
• Stops advertising automatically after three minutes. Two independent mechanisms
enforce this: a timer in the app and a time limit set in the Bluetooth
controller itself, which holds even if the system shuts the app down.
• Also stops advertising when the app leaves the screen, so it cannot be left
transmitting by accident.

WAKE MODES

• Temporary — the device wakes for about ten seconds.
• Permanent — the device stays awake.

The three-minute auto-off applies to the phone's transmission, not to how long
the device stays awake.

WHO IT IS FOR

This is a service tool and it only works with the specific devices that
recognize the transmitted frame. It is not a Bluetooth scanner and not a
general-purpose beacon generator — without compatible devices it has no use.

PRIVACY

The app collects, stores and transmits no data. It has no internet access and
requires no location permission. The only permission it needs is Bluetooth
advertising, which is exactly what the app does and which cannot be used to
determine the user's location. The selected power level and wake mode are saved
on the phone only.

REQUIREMENTS

Android 8.0 or newer, and a phone whose radio supports Bluetooth Low Energy
advertising in peripheral mode. The large majority of phones from this era do; if
the hardware cannot, the app says so when you try to start.
