What is Passit?
Passit is a Chrome extension that serves as a secure, open-source, cloud-based password manager. It incorporates well-established security protocols using the well-regarded libsodium for public key cryptography and secure hashing. The extension is secure enough that even its operators can’t decrypt the stored passwords. Being open-source, users have the ability to verify its security model, ensuring no backdoor entries. Users can easily access their passwords from any online device and share with friends, family, or coworkers.

Summary

Peace of mind for passwords. Passit is an open-source, cloud-based password manager that is secure, trustworthy, and useful.

Security that works

Passit leans on established security protocols, using the well established libsodium for public key cryptography, secret key cryptography, and secure hashing. The result is a system where Passit’s operator doesn’t know and can’t decrypt what passwords are stored. Even if an attacker could compromise a Passit server, he or she would still need a user’s password to make sense of the data.

Trust, by verifying

Open source code means you don’t have to take us at our word. Closed source software provides no way for you to validate the security model. Backdoors or flaws can be introduced at any time without your knowledge. Our open source model combined with the ability to self-host means you can trust that Passit is doing what it claims to do.

Passit anywhere, to anyone

Easily take your passwords to any online device and share them with others. Read existing passwords when offline, just in case. Passit stores your passwords online, so if your device has an Internet connection, you can access all of your sensitive information on it. Group features will allow you to share your passwords with friends, family, or coworkers.

User reviews
Looking forwards to more features. If you are looking for a simple password manager with some simple sharing, this is the one for you. There are sites and other online services where correct user management is not always possible (i.e. creating a user account for each user and making sure we follow the principle of least privilege security measures - PoLP) and as we have a small team which require us to share some passwords, this solution has been ideal. I personally like the clear intuitive UI and hope that theme remains in the future development of the software. I also wish to see TOTP that can sync across devices and some more sharing options like groups within groups, very much like folder based structuring. Thank you for providing such a handy plugin and web service, it's really been a life saver.

Perfect app. I use self hosted docker instance. If we could have two factor OTP for login would be even better. Thank You for implementing forgotten password reset. The ability to see all registered users and possibly delete by admin would be appreciated.
