Page Integrity Firefox

Page Integrity

Page Integrity is used for verifying the integrity of web pages. It was created as part of a solution to the infamous 'browser crypto chicken-and-egg problem', and as part of a larger effort to make in-browser crypto applications more secure.

Features & Capabilities

After installing the Page Integrity extension, you’ll notice the PI button in your browser toolbar. Click the button to view integrity information about the currently loaded page in the active tab of your browser, including the SHA-256 checksum hash of the page source. Additionally, if the page source is signed with one or more digital signatures, PI will verify the signatures, and show the signer's public signing keys for these signatures. See https://www.pageintegrity.net/ for more info.

Is Page Integrity Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Page Integrity requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

Page Integrity may not be trust-worthy. Avoid installing if possible unless you really trust this publisher.
