User Reviews

Ultrasonic is praised as the best client for Subsonic/Airsonic servers offering excellent folder browsing, offline playback, and playlist control. However, users face frequent crashes and playback problems, particularly with queued songs and podcasts. The app lacks convenient features like managing downloads and SD card caching. Despite these issues, the app is preferred over alternatives like DSub and works well with a variety of servers, though development activity may be slowing.
Pros
  • Best Subsonic/Airsonic client available, preferred over alternatives like DSub.
  • Robust folder browsing and offline playback functionality.
  • Good control over queue ordering and playlist management.
  • Works well with various server types like Navidrome, Airsonic, and Nextcloud Subsonic streams.
  • Frequent updates and active development (though some comment on it being dead recently).
Cons
  • Frequent app crashes reported, especially after updates, affecting usability.
  • Podcast functionality is poor, with issues in downloading, buffering, and UI glitches.
  • Playback issues such as songs in queue not playing correctly, play/pause being unreliable, and playback stopping when screen is off/not charging.
  • Limited or no capability to manage downloads (e.g., inability to delete downloaded music or redownload failed tracks).
  • No support for SD card caching and inability to access Android Sound FX hampers audio customization.

Best Subsonic/Airsonic client that I've tried. Slightly confusing way of showing offline songs but the rest of it works perfectly. I would really appreciate this functionality: -Voice commands like play/pause. -Possibility to see all recent podcast episodes I've subscribed. Currently it shows folders with podcast names. -Possibility to rewind +/-30 seconds or so on with buttons or gestures. Use case is for really long podcast 8+ hours I can't precisely set time with the progress bar.

Fails to play songs in queue. When songs are queued, it will play the first song then start 'playing' the next song with no audio. The audio will start if you manually restart the song, but you have to manually start each track for audio.
