User Reviews

DVSwitch Mobile is praised for its strong support of multiple digital ham radio modes with excellent audio quality and active developer support. However, users frequently experience challenges due to minimal documentation, complicated setup, login problems, and occasional connectivity issues. The app is best suited for users with existing knowledge of digital radio systems and node configurations. Despite these hurdles, it is valued as a powerful and unique tool that brings digital voice modes to mobile devices, making it a significant contribution to the amateur radio community.
Pros
  • Supports multiple digital ham radio modes like DMR, D-Star, C4FM, NXDN, and IAX smoothly.
  • Audio quality is generally excellent, often compared to phone call clarity.
  • Enables access to AllStar nodes and digital modes via mobile devices, useful when radios are unavailable.
  • Developers provide active support and the app has a helpful user community on groups.io.
  • App is feature-rich and versatile for ham radio enthusiasts, facilitating mode switching and server connections.
Cons
  • Steep learning curve with little to no official documentation or clear instructions, confusing especially for new users.
  • Setup and configuration can be complicated, requiring prior knowledge of digital modes and node configurations.
  • Frequent disconnections and excessive data usage reported, affecting user experience.
  • Login issues related to password characters and token retrieval can be frustrating without clear error messages.
  • Lacks Bluetooth support currently and some interface elements (like config saving) are not intuitive or fully functional.

Spent a day and a half trying to register, log in, and configure this app only to be faced with one brick wall after another. I don't have a node in my house and thought, maybe incorrectly, that I could use this as a stand-alone way of accessing allstar repeaters. So, after all this messing about -and with nothing in the way of instructions - I have removed this from my phone and I'll stick with echolink.

Works ok, constant disconnections, also it use a whole lot of data just for a few hours It used up 5 gbs of data within 6 days of use, that is more than any other IAX app I have ever used.
