User reviews

Users find the 'Open in Sidebar' add-on very useful for accessing websites within the sidebar and multitasking. However, repeated concerns include the inability to resize the sidebar width, the lack of persistent open options (e.g., for audio playback), and missing interface conveniences like a toolbar button. Some users also desire more control over which links open in the sidebar and better icon visibility in dark themes. Despite these, the add-on is praised for its simplicity and enhancing browsing workflows.
Pros
  • Provides convenient sidebar browsing, allowing users to multitask and access websites alongside their main window.
  • Highly useful and appreciated by users for its simplicity and functionality.
  • Enables opening various websites and services in the sidebar, which improves workflow and productivity.
  • Customization options like opening links in the sidebar and integration with bookmarks and history.
  • Lightweight and non-intrusive, with positive user feedback on usefulness.
Cons
  • Sidebar width is not resizable by default, leading to user frustration.
  • Lack of an option to keep the sidebar open persistently, for example, to keep music playing.
  • No built-in toolbar button, making interaction less convenient, with some users requesting easier access.
  • Limited control over which sites open in the sidebar, such as preventing external domain links from opening anew.
  • Icon visibility issues with dark themes, complicating usability in the new Firefox Proton UI.

Would be a 5* if there was an option to keep the app open so I could have youtube music in the sidebar while working and just close it and it still plays music.

I there a way to prevent links from other domains to open in a new tab so I can fluently navigate always inside the sidebar?

Kudos to the developer. One simple request. Can you add an option that gives an URL for Open In Sidebar to open by default. That is whenever the side bar is empty after say it is toggled from History or Bookmarks.
