As a result, users were missing an average of 70% of all posts and 50% of their friends' posts before Instagram decided to implement an algorithm in 2016 , leaving the antichronological order definitively.

The platform communicated little when it was launched. Priority was given to displaying content identified by the algorithm as likely to interest its members.
