NS Perronwijzer

NS Perronwijzer is a dedicated Chrome extension designed to make train travel more accessible for travelers with visual impairments in the Netherlands. It offers real-time, easy-to-access information about the next trains departing from your platform, including departure times, destinations, train types, intermediate stations, delays, and boarding instructions. The extension supports speech output for users who have activated speech on their device, enabling audible announcements of platform signs and travel details.

Created in collaboration with the Eye Association and tested by blind and partially sighted individuals, NS Perronwijzer aims to enhance travel independence and confidence. It also includes a station search feature to check current departure times across all Dutch stations, not limited to NS serviced stations. Continuous improvements are underway to make all platform information fully accessible, ensuring a seamless and inclusive journey experience for everyone.
