Summary
Ping is an outcome of a long standing frustration of mine - how do I assign tasks to me team and co-workers efficiently and productively? How do I stay on top of things I need to do and things that I am relying on others to do? There are loads of task management apps, but they are all far too complex and don't solve the problem of managing asks that I have of others. I designed Ping to be super simple - just assign tasks to yourself or to others. Ping automatically emails the tasks to the assignees and lets you track completion and 'ping' them if they haven't finished what you requested. Use them within your team or at home with your spouse/kids. It is especially a savior in the remote work situation we find ourselves in today. Ping requests for your Gmail permission to send and receive emails on your behalf. This is required so that Ping can automatically email tasks to your colleagues and also automatically add tasks to your list if someone else assigns a task to you. This also ensures that all your information is shared only through your own Gmail account. Ping does not have any server and no information of yours is shared with Ping or any other third party. Ping's code works entirely within your Chrome browser. This is designed to protect your privacy, and to make your task management efficient. If you ever want to revoke access, you can simply delete the Ping extension from your Chrome browser. As an additional measure, you can also revoke email access by visiting your Google account permissions page athttps://myaccount.google.com/u/0/permissions.
Ping is FREE and all current functionality will remain FREE forever. This is more of a passion project than an enterprise. Do give it a try and see if it helps you improve your daily workflows and reduce time on painful task management. Would love to hear any and all feedback from you, do write to us at pingtasksmanager@gmail.com.
Safety
Risk impact
Ping is safe to use. It does not request any sensitive permissions.
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypass your security settings, and access your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
Risk likelihood
Ping may not be trust-worthy. Avoid installing if possible unless you really trust this publisher.
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Chrome extension may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Chrome extension reputation on Chrome Web Store, the amount of time the Chrome extension has been around, and other signals about the Chrome extension. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Chrome extension, especially ones with higher risk impact and/or higher risk likelihood.
