Type in chrome://restart in the URL bar to restart the browser for the changes to take effect.

NOTE: Sometimes the browser may block downloading / installing CRX file from outside the Chrome Web Store. If so, you may need to use option 1, or download the ZIP file instead.
In the URL bar, go to chrome://extensions
Enable Developer mode
Drag and drop the downloaded Bookmarks Extension for Google CRX file into the Extensions page
When prompted, click Add extension to install Bookmarks Extension for Google.

Install ZIP file

Download and unpack the Bookmarks Extension for Google ZIP file to a directory of your choice.
In Chrome browser, go to chrome://extensions
Enable Developer mode.
Click on the Load Unpacked button.
Select the directory of with the unpacked Bookmarks Extension for Google ZIP file from step 1. Bookmarks Extension for Google is now installed on your browser.
