"Dark Mode Global" is a Chrome extension capable of automatically turning white-themed webpages into dark-themed using smart CSS rules, significantly reducing eyestrain. The tool additionally allows users to add webpages to a blacklist, avoiding automatic dark theme conversion when enabled. Its standout feature lies in only applying the dark theme to pages that by default have a light background, maintaining the integrity of originally black-themed pages. Moreover, it supports custom styling to rectify any potential glitches during automatic conversion.

This extension blackens white-themed webpages automatically using CSS rules. The idea is to reduce eyestrain while reading documents hence the toolbar button is like a switch to turn dark theme on and off. The user can add one or several pages to the blacklist to prevent automatic conversion when the extension is enabled.
This extension supports custom styling for the dark mode to fix possible glitches while automatically converting a page.
In comparison to the other dark mode extensions, this one has a built-in method to apply the dark theme only to web pages that use a light background color. So if for instance, you visit a web page that has a default black theme, then the extension will not apply the dark theme at all!

on some pages, it just reversed the colors, so you end up with weird pics and colors
Good extension for turning pages black. BUT the text is not reversed to bright white! I just found, after consideriable poking around that there is a way to adjust the color of the type so it is brighter, from a sort of gold to a sort of white. It was set to 90 percent brightness by default. I changed it to 100 percent so have added more stars to make it 4 stars now. BUT, there should be an option for bright white for the text or those of us with vision problems. Cataracts, for instance, dull colors down so allowing bright white for the millions with cataracts is something to strive for. I hope to see this change made in the very near future. As my eyesight worsens I'll have to change to a different app, one that is not global, meaning it is not set for the entire browser, only for the page you are looking at, but is far more readable. While changing to a black background may just be aesthetic for some people, for those with vision issues it is a necessity to keep on being able to work and read on a computer. Thank you.
dark mode global is great for some sites like google docs but i ended up having to add most sites to the blacklist (essentially, removing dark mode for the site) because they became unreadable and the dark mode even affected pictures and made them look like they were negatives. It was really bad for commerce/shopping sites especially. It also doesn't recognize when a site (like Twitter) already has dark mode. I really want an extension like this but this one did not translate most sites into dark mode effectively.
