SmallBASIC est un moyen rapide et facile à apprendre interprète le langage de programmation BASIC.

SmallBASIC est un interpréteur de langage de programmation BASIC rapide et facile à apprendre, idéal pour les calculs, scripts et prototypes courants. SmallBASIC inclut des fonctions trigonométriques, matricielles et algébriques, une puissante bibliothèque de chaînes de caractères, des commandes système et graphiques, ainsi qu'une syntaxe de programmation structurée.

REMARQUE : Il ne s'agit pas de « Small Basic » de Microsoft. Il s'agit de SmallBASIC open source sous licence GPL version 3, initialement conçu pour le Palm Pilot, puis porté sur les appareils Franklin eBookman et Nokia 770.

SmallBASIC présente quelques fonctionnalités :

- SmallBASIC est un langage BASIC multiplateforme : Linux, Windows et Android sont actuellement pris en charge.

- Le langage est relativement compact : l'installateur Debian pour Linux, par exemple, se présente sous la forme d'un fichier unique de 340 Ko.

- SmallBASIC propose un ensemble très complet de fonctions mathématiques.

- C'est un langage interprété qui ne nécessite aucune compilation.

SmallBASIC prend en charge la programmation structurée, les structures définies par l'utilisateur et les fichiers sources modularisés. Il n'est cependant pas orienté objet.

Il offre également une grande liberté de syntaxe : de nombreuses commandes disposent d'alternatives, et de nombreuses constructions disposent de synonymes.

SmallBASIC est livré avec son propre petit IDE.

Des primitives graphiques (comme des lignes, des cercles, etc.) sont fournies, ainsi que des fonctions audio et une interface graphique simple.

SmallBASIC a été initialement créé pour l'assistant numérique personnel Palm Pilot à la fin des années 1990 par Nicholas Christopoulos.

Works as intended.Some suggestions: 1)Please make the auto-save feature optional, 2) matrix-size and transpose commands would be useful,3) Ability to save the current graph for subsequent recall very much a necessary feature to implement for improvement.
