Pathline

Pathline builds a private timeline of the places you visit and the trips between them. It records your location history on your phone, organizes it by day, and helps you review where you went without needing an account.

Use Pathline to:
- See a daily timeline of visits and trips
- View your routes on a map
- Save and edit places you visit often
- Confirm detected places and travel modes
- Explore recorded activity by location
- Choose a battery saver, balanced, or high accuracy recording profile
- Back up your timeline to a location you choose
- Protect backups with a password or passkey
- Export weekly GPX tracks when you want portable route files

Pathline is designed for personal location history. Motion detection and geofencing help it record in the background while reducing unnecessary wakeups and GPS use. Built-in models and heuristic fallbacks classify visits, stationary time, walking, cycling, running, and vehicle trips.

Your location history stays on your device unless you choose to back it up or export it. Backups can be protected with a password or passkey (using WebAuthn PRF extension). Pathline does not require an account. You control recording from Settings and can restore from a previous backup during setup.

Pathline asks for location and physical activity permissions so it can build a complete timeline. Background location is optional, but needed if you want Pathline to continue recording when the app is closed. Notifications are used to show recording status while active. Phone state permission is optional and only helps improve local context from signal information.
