NCM Memory Plugin Firefox

NCM Memory Plugin

Injects NCM memory into public LLM web interfaces.

Features & Capabilities

NCM Memory is the official companion extension for the NCM Hippocampus desktop application. It enables web-based AI models to securely access your personal, locally encrypted memory. NCM provides continuity across conversations and supported platforms. Compatible with ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.

⚠️ WARNING: This extension requires the NCM desktop application to be installed and running on your computer in order to function properly.

How does it work?

The extension acts as a highly secure communication bridge between the web interface of the AI model and your local NCM Memory application, which runs in isolation in the background of your PC. The extension never performs actions automatically on behalf of the user, does not simulate clicks, and does not bypass platform restrictions in any way. It operates exclusively in response to explicit user actions within supported chat interfaces. All interface modifications and context operations are performed strictly on behalf of the user and solely for the purpose of providing the documented functionality of NCM Memory.

Dormant State (Inactive by Default)

Immediately after installation, the extension remains completely inactive — it does not read or modify any web pages. In the background, it only checks for the presence of the local NCM server and validates the license against our verification backend.

After installation, a setup wizard automatically launches, where the user enters their credentials (received during the desktop software download process) and manually selects the AI domains on which the extension will be enabled. Until this setup and verification process is completed, the extension does not interact with browsing activity in any way.

Prompt Enrichment (Context Injection): When you send a message to an AI model, the extension instantly retrieves relevant context from your local database (through a secure connection to 127.0.0.1) and silently appends this context to your message. This allows the AI to access memory data without interrupting your writing flow. System Data Filtering (UI Cleanup): If the AI assistant derives new information worth remembering, it attaches special system metadata to its response. The extension automatically detects these blocks, sends them for secure local storage, and then visually filters this internal metadata out of the interface (via CSS), ensuring your conversations remain perfectly clean and uncluttered. Why does the extension require these permissions? Access to AI model websites (host permissions): The extension needs to interact with supported AI web interfaces (to inject contextual memory into text fields and filter internal NCM metadata from the visible UI) only on specific domains: chatgpt.com, claude.ai, and gemini.google.com. Access to 127.0.0.1 (localhost): Communication between the extension and your memory database happens exclusively locally (via WebSocket/HTTP). No conversation history ever leaves your computer. Access to verification servers (ncm.opentechlab.cz): Used solely to obtain a short-lived security token (JWT) for authorizing the local connection, ensuring that no unauthorized software can access or manipulate your memory. scripting / activeTab: Required for dynamically executing scripts necessary for chat interface integration and for securely processing text elements (DOM) in real time. storage: Used for secure local storage of your application credentials (local authentication token) and user panel preferences. Privacy Promise & Transparency

The extension fully respects your privacy. It does not collect, analyze, or transmit your personal data, browsing history, or conversation content.

All memory exchange happens exclusively locally between your browser and your PC. Your complete prompt is sent to the AI provider’s servers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) through the standard communication channel exactly as if you had typed it manually yourself.

Is NCM Memory Plugin Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

NCM Memory Plugin requires some sensitive permissions that could impact your browser and data security. Exercise caution before installing.

Risk likelihood
Risk likelihood measures the probability that a Firefox add-on may turn malicious. This is determined by the publisher and the Firefox add-on reputation on Firefox Add-ons Store, the amount of time the Firefox add-on has been around, and other signals about the Firefox add-on. Our algorithms are not perfect, and are subject to change as we discover new ways to detect malicious extensions. We recommend that you always exercise caution when installing a Firefox add-on.

NCM Memory Plugin is recently added, and hasn't been around long enough for us to gather enough data to accurately assess its risk level.
