Review summary

Users praise Multiple Search and Highlight for its simplicity, effective multi-term highlighting, and no-permission requirement. Common issues include highlights disappearing when the popup loses focus or is closed, lack of a persistent search interface, and absence of keyboard shortcuts. Users also request features like dark mode and better handling of highlights during scrolling or tab changes. Overall, it is considered powerful but would benefit from improvements to usability and customization.
Pros
  • Simple and easy to use interface.
  • Effectively highlights all occurrences of searched terms on a page.
  • Does not require any special permissions, enhancing user trust.
  • Provides customization options in settings like highlight colors and keeping highlights after closing the popup.
  • Works well across different browsers, notably Chrome and Firefox.
Cons
  • Search highlights disappear when clicking outside the popup or closing the search window.
  • Lacks a persistent search bar that remains open until manually closed.
  • No dark mode available.
  • No keyboard shortcuts implemented to quickly invoke or manage searches.
  • Highlighting sometimes disappears when scrolling or switching tabs.

2025-07-30 Fi***** This add-on is amazing, thank you for developing it! Just wanted to report that, after the update from July 28th, I can no longer browse the highlighted text: it is indeed highlighted, but when I move the arrows in the add-on, nothing happens and it doesn't center on the next word. Would that be fixable?

2024-02-06 Ni***** Great add-on super simple to use. My only issue is that when I click on the page my search disappears causing me to have to open it again.(Its a small thing, but if it could remain up until I dismiss it with a keyboard shortcut or clicking the "X" that would make it a 5 star easy) P.S if there is a way to make this happen in the settings and i missed it please let me know

2024-01-30 Fi***** Check the settings, you can choose to highlight the text when addon pop up is closed. In my case it was very important :)

2023-12-07 Hi***** This functionality should be added to vanilla Firefox, as it can be extremely useful from time to time. The only feature it's seriously missing is a keyboard shortcut like CTRL-SHIFT-F (if overriding default CTRL-F isn't possible) to help it replace the deficient vanilla search once and for all. If the dev is still around, please consider adding one. A less important (but also useful) suggestion: add the options gear button to the main popup, to make access to the add-on's settings much faster (for tweaking colors and so on).
