User reviews

Multi Find is praised for its multi-word and multi-color highlighting capabilities, making it a valuable productivity add-on. However, users report several usability drawbacks such as inconvenient keyboard controls, dull highlight colors, and UI interference. Performance slowdowns and inconsistent settings persistence are also notable issues. While it outperforms some similar extensions in word limits, it lacks advanced features like profiles or keyboard shortcuts. Despite these flaws, users find it effective and appreciate its compatibility and functionality, especially for academic and detailed search tasks.
Pros
  • Allows searching and highlighting multiple words or phrases simultaneously.
  • Provides multi-color highlighting for improved visibility and organization.
  • Helpful tool for productivity and academic work, making searching easier.
  • No limit on the number of words that can be highlighted, unlike some similar extensions.
  • Good compatibility with various Firefox versions and works out of the box without complicated setup.
Cons
  • Lacks convenient keyboard navigation; pressing Enter inserts a new line instead of searching.
  • Colors for highlights are sometimes dull or do not override website default colors effectively.
  • The add-on window can interfere with webpage UI elements and is sometimes hard to close by clicking outside.
  • Slows down Firefox performance, including tab switching and page loading times.
  • Settings may reset unexpectedly or require multiple changes to save, with no profiles or site-specific settings.
  • Issues with scroll bar arrows appearing erroneously and sticking around on pages, including inside video containers.

I've been strugling to find these features. I was close to writing a out-browser solution. This is the best productivity add-on. Edit: I went crazy adding rules and now my machine strugles in large pages. It would be nice to be able to specify websites in which I don't want the extension to run. Still 5 stars.

Seems very broken for me. For starters, from a convenience standpoint, there doesn't seem to be a way to "search" with the keyboard, since pressing enter jumps to a new line, I have to manually click the previous/next arrows to actually go to the found results. There's also no way to make it match default search behavior when it comes to closing and opening it. It either remembers your last search forever even after you close the window, even sticking through multiple tabs and forever highlighting words until you manually delete them, or it automatically deletes what you searched only after you close and reopen the window. The regular search disappears when you close the search bar, but still remembers the last thing you searched when you reopen it. Then, the colors for the highlight are always be very dull, no matter what I choose on the settings. On a functional note, it seems to randomly add those scroll bar arrows when first loading pages, often disappearing after a second but sometimes they don't and just stick there forever, even with nothing searched at all. Even worse, sometimes those arrows appear inside other containers of the page (like in a video) instead of only on the very edge. Finally, after messing around with it for a while it just... stopped working. It currently doesn't find anything at all, even after removing and re-adding the extension, closing and reopening the windows, etc.
