Subject: Mouse Tooltip Translator — impossibility of accessing local PDF files in Firefox Hello, I am a Firefox user and I have been using Mouse Tooltip Translator with great satisfaction for web pages. However, I have encountered a fundamental limitation when trying to use the extension on local PDF files. When opening a PDF from my computer directly in Firefox (via file:// protocol), the extension displays the following message: "Mouse Tooltip Translator require permission for local pdf file. User need to turn on 'Allow access to file URLs' from setting." The problem is that Firefox does not expose this permission to the user through any accessible interface — unlike Chrome, where the option appears explicitly in the extension management page. I have also tried modifying privacy.file_unique_origin to false in about:config, without any result. After thorough research, I understand that Firefox blocks extension access to file:// at an architectural level. However, I would like to ask whether you see any technical possibility of working around this limitation — for example, by using a different content injection mechanism, a companion native app, or any other approach that Firefox's extension API might allow. Mouse Tooltip Translator is by far the best tool of its kind, and being able to use it on local PDF files in Firefox would make it truly complete. Thank you for your work and for considering this. Best regards
