Meetup Purifier

Refines the Meetup.com UX - remove blurs, unwanted banners and nag modals

Features & Capabilities

Changes to Site Appearance:

  • Removes unwanted free-trial banners, redundant panels, and credit card forms that clutter the Meetup.com experience
  • Remove ad popup after an event's "Attend" button is clicked
  • Sharpens any low-res publicly visible profile photos and replaces them with their full-res counterparts
  • Hides the site footer until your mouse cursor hovers over its minimized state
  • Remove "X people interested" - as a user can do nothing with the information since this list is not of attendees

New Functionality:

  • Flagging users, setting your own reason for the flag; this is stored locally on your device
    • Flagged users will be marked on attendee lists and on their Member pages
    • Event attendance page shows a notice if flagged Members are attending
  • Hiding Groups: marking a group as hidden will hide all its events from the event search page
    • Go to the group's page to change its visibility status

Page-Specific Improvements:

  • Event pages
    • Clickable area for "Add to Calendar" and "Google Maps" links enlarged for better usability
  • Member profiles
    • Clicking on a profile photo now opens the image file in a new tab
    • Group tiles now link to the correct group pages instead of triggering a subscription popup
    • Social media icons within the bio now link to the correct URL instead of triggering a subscription popup
  • Event search
    • Restores last search filters used when coming afresh from the Homepage
