Marshmallow Firefox

Marshmallow

Marshmallow helps you learn to control the time you spend on the Internet. When you try to visit a distracting web site, Marshmallow will delay you for a few seconds, showing you a motivational quote and giving you a chance to stop yourself.

Features & Capabilities

Do you know that feeling after you've spent way too long scrolling the feed — way longer than you ever intended to — and you feel more drained and tired than refreshed?

Marshmallow will help give you a moment of pause as you jump from link to link in the feed, so that you can observe your own mind, sit with your desire, and — over time — learn to gently let it go and redirect your attention to the things you truly want.

Over time, you'll build exactly this skill of watching desires come and go in your own mind without necessarily having to act on them right away. Monks call it "surfing the urge" — but we like to think of it as that extra moment you train yourself to wait before diving into a bowl of fluffy marshmallows!

User Reviews

There is a forever loop. Too bad.
by Br*****, 2025-03-28

I really want to love it but it doesn't work. The blocking page works great and I love the quotes. I also like the plain webpage and big buttons because the point is too block distractions. My problem is it doesn't allow me to access the page even after the countdown. There is a continuous loop of blocking and I could never go to the website. It's a shame.

Is Marshmallow Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Marshmallow requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
