After refreshing Chrome (default F5), I found that this extension did what I needed--set the background to grey which is dark enough not to hurt my eyes. However, when I switched to another document that was supposed to have a purple background, it was also grey and I could not change it back to purple. You can set the doc background by going to File > Page Setup. After removing this extension, I could change my doc background again.

Jason, 2024-11-19Yet another extension that claims to make a "dark mode" but then proceeds to only change the outer UI instead of the actual document part. Oh wait, it does, it just inverts everything else so if you're using colored highlighting to keep track of things it's all messed up now. 😐
