User reviews

Users appreciate that the extension quickly calculates and visually displays fuel costs for road trips on Google Maps. However, many reviews point out that the vehicle database is limited, lacking diesel options and many models, especially outside North America. There is no ability to manually add custom vehicles or fuel consumption data. Additionally, fuel price calculations are simplistic, based only on the start location, and do not update dynamically for route changes. Some users also report bugs and usability issues, reducing overall utility.
Pros
  • Calculates fuel cost quickly and provides visual routes on Google Maps
  • Supports a database of cars for selection, at least for common North American vehicles
  • Helps in estimating fuel costs for planning road trips
  • Easy to use once vehicle is set up properly
Cons
  • Limited vehicle database, missing many models including diesel vehicles and newer cars
  • No option to add custom vehicle or manually input fuel consumption data
  • Fuel price calculations are based only on starting location and do not adjust for route or currency units outside US/Canada
  • Does not update cost calculations when modifying or adding stops to routes
  • App has bugs such as needing to re-enter vehicle info on every use and some controls become unresponsive

App WAS awesome until it stopped working maybe about a year ago or so and have deleted and reinstalled it several times hoping it would be fixed but still is not so only 1 star anymore but can't find another extension/app that is as good as this one was hopefully they'll fix it some day!

It's acceptible for basic cars. It does not include ANY diesel vehicles. It only includes basic 1500 class trucks, and even then it is lacking many (old hiluxes, etc.). MUST HAVE extension that is missing a LOT of features.

Calculations are only for the starting zip code average fuel cost. It doesn't do the correct math. It though I could drive from Maryland to North Dakota on 30 gallons of gas. LOL! Great little visual app, IF the calculations did 2 things 1. averaged cost of fuel along map route 2. did the correct math!
