Extension summary

This extension searches web pages for the names of the 147 Republican congresspeople who voted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, and when found, adds a simple asterisk "*" to their name. This is a reference to the "asterisk of shame" that is sometimes referred to when describing how people will be remembered in the history books.

The intention is to provide contextual information that is part of the public record about a matter of public importance, and not to encourage harassment of any kind.

User reviews

Enjoyable, but after several months I'd forgotten what this is about. It would be great if there was an info box that came up when hovering over the asterisk that explained what it was for.

Can we also add an asterisk - perhaps an orange one - for anyone who was a political appointee of the 45 administration? Including judges, or course.

Interesting idea! It seems to work as advertised, but I'm writing to request a small edit so that it will include my congressman, Rob Wittman (VA-1). The pattern match is looking for his official name, "Robert J. Wittman," but he always goes by "Rob Wittman."
