JW.org Video Transcript

By: bigmatt
Display a searchable transcript using VTT subtitles on JW.org videos.

Features & Capabilities

What's new: Added mobile support (Android) with a responsive design that adjusts the transcript location to the screen orientation.

This extension uses the VTT subtitle file provided on the JW.org website to dynamically display a transcript window with a search functionality.

Usage:

  1. If the VTT file was found a transcript button (file icon) will show in the bottom left corner of the page. Clicking it opens the transcript window.
  2. Typing into search box searches through the transcript.
  3. < and > buttons jump to previous or next search result.
  4. Scroll button (▼) scrolls the transcript to show currently spoken line.
  5. Clicking on each line in the transcript will jump to the corresponding video timestamp.
  6. When video plays, current VTT line will be underlined in the transcript.
