JSON Editor Firefox

JSON Editor

Open, edit, format and inspect JSON and JSON Lines locally without uploading your files.

Features & Capabilities

Open JSON, JSONL and NDJSON files in a full browser tab. Edit source with syntax highlighting, validate and format JSON, inspect a tree or table, apply local schemas, preview JSONata transformations, compare documents and download edited copies. Exact number tokens survive formatting and source edits. JSONL uses indexed records and downloads the complete file with applied edits. Files stay on this device; schema settings persist locally and can be forgotten. No account or browsing access. Ordinary JSON: up to 64 MiB; JSONL: up to 2 GiB and one million records. JSONata uses JavaScript numeric precision and rejects unsafe numeric input. Downloads save copies, not the original file. Optional usage statistics are off by default. Enable them in extension options to send workspace/file open, export and failure counts plus product, browser, version and a random installation identifier to PostHog in the United States. No file contents, filenames, URLs, search terms, edits or error messages are included. All features work with analytics off; disable it at any time.

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
Very low risk impactVery low risk impact

JSON Editor does not require any sensitive permissions.
