GLICODE®

GLICODE® is an innovative educational app designed to teach young children the fundamentals of coding using Pocky, a popular snack. By arranging Pocky sticks in various sequences, kids learn concepts such as sequences, loops, and 'if' statements. The app features Glico's mascot HUG HUG who navigates different levels in an imaginary world, spreading happiness with the help of the player's coding skills.

With simple equipment—a smartphone with the GLICODE® app installed, a pack of Pocky, and a white placemat—children can capture their snack sequences using their phone's camera or use touch mode to practice coding logic. The app is adopted in Japanese elementary schools and has government support, making it an educational tool that combines fun, interactivity, and real-world objects to foster algorithmic thinking in early learners. GLICODE® respects privacy by not storing or transmitting photos taken during use, and it encourages hygiene during gameplay.
