In Zoom Firefox

In Zoom

Enlarge (zoom in) images and videos "inline" (in place) using shift + mouse wheel.

Features & Capabilities

In Zoom is a Chrome extension enabling users to enlarge photos and videos "inline" using Shift plus the mouse wheel. Unlike traditional zoom tools that open popups, In Zoom displays the enlarged media exactly where it is on the page, maintaining context and flow.

Users can smoothly zoom in and out and drag the media if necessary, providing an intuitive and seamless viewing experience. The extension is open-source and continuously improved, with features like bringing an element to the front if overlapped by others. This makes In Zoom perfect for anyone who wants quick, hassle-free zooming on images and videos within web pages without disrupting their browsing.

User Reviews

The add-on largely delivers reliable video and image zoom in Firefox with a simple, unobtrusive UI and is especially useful for ultrawide displays. However, user reviews highlight recurring issues: drag functionality isn’t consistently reliable; some sites show zoom problems (notably YouTube with shift and Twitch scrolling), and there can be addon conflicts. Users also request enhancements like right-click zoom for images, image popups, and rotate options. Overall, it’s valued for ease of use and usefulness, with room for cross-site polish.
Pros
  • Zooms videos and images effectively.
  • Seamless Firefox integration; works well.
  • Simple, easy to use; unobtrusive (doesn't interfere with right-click).
  • Improves viewing on ultrawide monitors by removing black bars.
  • Customizable and open-source (GitHub) in some cases.
Cons
  • Dragging/panning can be unreliable across different content.
  • Site-specific quirks: YouTube shift+wheel may not zoom; Twitch zoom may not allow scrolling.
  • Conflicts with other addons (e.g., ultrawide addon) causing clashes in some setups.
  • Keyboard activation can require Ctrl rather than Shift; missing right-click-to-zoom on images and image popup options as requested.

High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.
