Features & Capabilities

In My Pocket is an unofficial Chrome extension designed to bring Pocket’s power-user features back to your browser. It’s inspired by the old Pocket addon, is open source, and not affiliated with Mozilla or Read It Later. The project includes links to its homepage, FAQ, source code, contact form, and a public roadmap for future work.

Important status update: Pocket has shut down, and the author notes that the extension may not work until further updates. The developer welcomes bug reports and contributions via Twitter (@pabuisson) and the public Trello roadmap, with the source code hosted on GitHub. User Reviews

Users praise In My Pocket as a handy, fast, and feature-rich extension for saving and organizing reads across multiple Firefox accounts, with quick access via a dropdown and clear save-status cues, plus options like color-coded favorites and editable titles. However, its usefulness is tempered by Pocket's closure, which threatens future functionality, and by the lack of a dark mode, which several users repeatedly request. Overall, it's valued, but constrained by external service changes and UI/theme gaps.
Pros
  • Very useful daily-use extension that many users rely on to save pages.
  • Quick, effortless access to Pocket through the dropdown and a bookmark button that shows if a page is saved.
  • Strong bookmarking features: color-coded favorites and editable titles, usable across multiple Firefox accounts.
  • Reliable support and ongoing development praised by users.
Cons
  • Pocket's shutdown/closure severely affects the long-term viability of the add-on.
  • No dark mode; repeated requests for a dark theme.
