User reviews

FullyFeedly is praised for transforming partial RSS feeds into full articles seamlessly within Feedly, saving users time and integrating well with article extraction services like Readability. Users value its shortcut features and uniqueness. However, the extension faces significant issues due to reliance on third-party APIs, resulting in API quota errors and broken functionality when services shut down or Feedly updates. Some usability concerns include manual triggering of full article views and encoding problems for certain languages. Additionally, recent permission requests have raised questions among users.
Pros
  • Effectively converts partial RSS feeds into full articles with one click, enhancing Feedly reading experience.
  • Integrates well with Readability and similar article extraction services for seamless content display.
  • Saves time by eliminating the need to open multiple tabs or use external sites to access full articles.
  • Highly appreciated by users who have been searching for such a tool for a long time, indicating unique functionality.
  • Keyboard shortcut (e.g., 'ff') for quickly accessing full articles is convenient and popular among users.
Cons
  • Extension has stopped working or stopped functioning correctly following updates to Feedly or the shutdown of Readability service.
  • Dependency on third-party APIs like Readability or Mercury leads to API quota issues and loss of functionality when those services change or become unavailable.
  • User experience issues such as needing to manually click ‘show full article’ rather than automatic parsing of article content.
  • Concerns about new permissions requests (e.g., access to amazonaws.com URLs), which are unclear to users and cause concern.
  • Problems with character encoding for certain languages (e.g., Russian), leading to failures in retrieving article text.

The extension doesn't work as of Feb 23. What happened?
by Stef M, 2023-02-06

Just a doubt, why the user needs to click on "show full article" in the article window for the extension to show it? Why doesn't the extension get the parse automatically when the user clicks on the article snippet in the home page (and then opens the main article window)? I imagine there is a technical challenge here but I don't get it.
