American Well for Clinicians is a telehealth extension that enables providers to conduct secure, HIPAA-compliant live video visits with patients on iPhone or iPad. You can set your availability, manage your patient panel or see new patients, take clinical notes, diagnose and prescribe when appropriate, review clinical and pharmacological data, view real-time Apple Health biometrics, and receive automatic payments.

It connects to the American Well telehealth ecosystem, a leading US provider with Apple Health integration. To start seeing patients, identity and credentials must be verified by the Online Care Group. Medical services are not available in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas; nutrition in all states except Kentucky; behavioral health is available in all states.

Overall, clinicians appreciate the concept and scheduling capabilities of American Well, but repeatedly report major reliability and integration problems. The Converge rollout frequently blocks access to Converge appointments and messaging, while the app struggles with login stability, persistent logouts, and circular waiting indicators. Appointment visibility and calendar synchronization across devices are inconsistent, causing missed or hidden appointments. Support options are inadequate, and the mobile app lacks several features found on the web version. A minority see value in telemedicine use and note some improvements, but the experience remains unstable for most providers.

Recent reviews
This app has literally not been functional since the Converge rollout. I can see open appointment spots and legacy appointments only, but can’t see any Converge appointments, which is basically ALL of my appointments. Cant alter my calendar AT ALL because again, that’s a Converge feature. Can’t use Converge messaging, which again is basically ALL of my clients. It’s only functional with the legacy system and BARELY functional at that point

On the login page there’s no “forgot password” or similar link to click if there’s a problem logging in and no phone number listed to call for tech support. So there’s no way to seek help through the mobile app, which keeps you dependent on using another device to access the site.
