20 Minute Eating - Eat slower

Slow, Paced Meal Timer & Log

Features & Capabilities

Improve your eating habits by spending 20 minutes on your meals.

Open the app at mealtime, set how long you want to eat and how long each bite and pause should last, and 20 Minutes will guide you through your meal with gentle cues and a natural end point.

By eating in intervals, you give your body time to tell you you’re full — before you’ve eaten too much. Smaller portions, less rushing, and a pleasantly satisfied feeling when you’re done.

The 20-minute mark is when your stomach typically starts sending fullness signals to your brain. That makes it a natural, science-backed end point for your meal.

HOW IT WORKS

20 Minutes alternates between eating and pausing for as long as you choose. A calm breathing timer, progress bar, and cycle counter keep you on track from first bite to finish.

FEATURES

• Flexible meal length — Set your whole meal from 1 minute up to 3 hours (20 minutes is the sweet spot)

• Custom eat & pause intervals — Adjust both from 10 seconds to 60 minutes, in 10-second steps, to match your pace

• Sounds & vibrations — Hear or feel when eating starts, a pause begins, or your meal ends (each can be turned on or off)

• Background notifications — Get alerts when you switch apps or lock your phone, so you never miss the next interval

• Pause & resume — Need a moment? Pause mid-meal and pick up where you left off

• Resume last session — One tap to restart with your previous settings

• Meal history — Meals are logged automatically; see your week at a glance, review past sessions, and swipe to remove entries

• Completion summary — See how long you ate, how many cycles you completed, and your average bite time

• Light & dark mode — A calm, readable design for any time of day

• Simple, focused design — No clutter — just what you need at the table

User reviews

"Really helps access your 'full' trigger!"

"I eat my meals like someone is trying to take it away from me. I started off on the difficult setting and I find it is great. I can commit to the 2 minutes of rest and my food lasts for 20 minutes instead of 2!"

"Great app to help you get started on a healthier path. Many different options to choose from, meal reminders, & great cues in app. Totally recommend it."

Terrible app all it is is a timer and it does not work properly and freezes frequently

I’ve been using the app for a couple of weeks 3xday. I find it very helpful in slowing my meals down. I’ve even lost a pound or so just because I’m eating less as a result. One thing that I find may need some work is to keep timer running regardless of what’s happening. A cal or a text which I don’t answer while I’m eating anyway seems to mess the interface. The timer circle disappears and your not sure what’s going on. Ability to change colors of interface would be nice but not an issue: I suppose I’ll have to turn my airplane mode on while using the app during those precious 20 minutes.

Very basic app, you can make better timers with exercise apps. No signal to tell you to switch from eating to break so you have to stare at your phone- not a great practice for mindful eating! There’s also no way to log the duration of your meals so you can see improvements. Better off with another app
