User Reviews

Overall, users praise Newzik for ease of use, cloud sync, and organized multi-part scores with responsive support. However, tempo/swing playback inaccuracies, unreliable AI transcription, scanning reliability issues, pricing/feature-limit concerns, and inconsistent note/pitch mapping recur across reviews.
Pros
  • Easy to use and intuitive UI
  • Cloud backup and cross-device access for scores and setlists
  • Strong organization of song parts/instrument sections within a single score
  • Reduces manual data entry via scanning/import features
  • Responsive customer support and regular updates
Cons
  • Tempo and swing playback inaccuracies; set tempo not respected and swing not handled
  • Unreliable AI transcription and articulation detection (e.g., transcript failures, missing articulations)
  • Scanning/import reliability issues (scans sometimes fail to convert or are inconsistent)
  • Pricing concerns and changes to free/paid limits (piece limits shortened; paid features required)
  • Notes pitch and instrument mapping inconsistencies (notes read incorrectly; incorrect instrument mapping)

I have been a user for a few years, and while generally Newzik works better than ForScore for me, there are some problems. Mostly that syncing between the website and the app can experience hiccups, where my iPad will not load the music (yes, it’s connected to the internet) even though it displays on the website. It would help me a ton if there was a “Rotate Left” button in the rearrange section in addition to the “Rotate Right.” The other issues are mainly just cosmetic. Namely, switching between pieces puts a big gray box with the piece title in the center of the display. This can be bad if you are playing a gig and have to rapidly switch between PDFs and your first few measures are in the middle of the screen, too! They should also just put a “Setlists” button right on the main screen instead of going to “My Library” first. I can’t imagine I’m the only one who would prefer that. Thank you.
