User Reviews

Ravenscroft 275 on iOS delivers outstanding piano tone and deep tweakability, a strong travel/live option and solid value. However, its appeal is tempered by update/stability concerns, missing features (transpose, half-pedal, MIDI mapping), occasional latency, and a UI that some find cumbersome. Overall, it’s a standout sound engine in a mobile package, but maintenance and feature gaps limit its polish.
Pros
  • Stellar piano tone on iOS, frequently described as among the best mobile piano sounds
  • Deep tweakability with velocity curve, timbre, sample rate, and buffer size for precise control
  • Excellent value and portability; affordable price and great for travel or live use
  • On‑screen keyboard size is adjustable for a more realistic playing feel on large iPads
  • Strong performance on iOS for practice, travel, and stage use
Cons
  • Update and stability concerns: infrequent updates, crashes, export issues, and iOS compatibility problems
  • Missing essential features: transpose, half‑pedal, and more flexible MIDI mapping/handling
  • Latency can be noticeable at higher sample rates or on older devices
  • Clunky UI with hard‑to‑use virtual knobs and mixed MIDI/controller usability
  • Some reports of audio issues (static/no sound on export or after updates) and thinner iPad sound vs Mac version

Guys, I’ve been using this for years now. Lots to love but it’s time to update.

I love this app but it needs updates to keep it fresh is it possible to get the model where you see the hammer hitting the actual strings on piano that will make this app complete

I friend of mine had asked me come to his tour bus and play something. He didn’t tell what it was, but he had lugged his Motif XS 8 out and said try it. I played one chord and I looked at him in disbelief. It was set up perfectly for a real keyboard. No other virtual piano I had tried was that way. They were set up for unweighted cheap controllers and required a lot of tweaking to feel right. This was perfect out of the gate! Since this tool has become available, every single top notch player I know of uses this on stage when thye cannot take their laptop rig. This leaves out the pointless toom samples a live player would turn off to not sound muddy, which is why it is under 900 megs. Its under $40 bucks, whats nit to like?
