User Reviews

Pianoteq 8 is widely praised for its exceptional, physically modeled piano sound and portability. It offers a cross‑platform license, strong expressiveness, and a lightweight footprint that avoids large samples. However, reviewers note a premium price, a challenging mobile UI, and occasional latency or performance issues on certain setups. Overall, it’s seen as a groundbreaking, space-saving piano solution with top-tier sound, tempered by cost, usability on mobile, and device performance considerations.
Pros
  • Outstanding, highly realistic piano tones due to physical modeling; sounds indistinguishable from acoustic and superior to many sampled pianos.
  • Licenses cross between iOS and desktop platforms with a single license, enabling use across Mac/Windows/Linux.
  • Portable and plug-and-play on iPhone/iPad with no external power needed; supports Bluetooth MIDI for gig-ready portability.
  • Lightweight footprint with no massive sample data; efficient performance and fast patch switching.
  • High degree of tweakability and expressiveness, including mic placement, pedal hush, voicings, and immediate patch changes.
Cons
  • High price point and perceived value concerns; described as not cheap with a premium pricing scheme.
  • Mobile UI/UX can be difficult to navigate on small screens, making the app feel less approachable on iPhone/iPad.
  • Reported latency issues on some setups, indicating inconsistent performance across devices and configurations.

Everything is great I just wish y’all can make it so all the full 88 keys are functional some keys do not work

I wanted a simple plug in that I could use right away without any issues…..I’m having significant latency issues. I thought it may be because I’m running on an iPad… so I downloaded on the app. I can’t activate because I was not sent a serial number…I got an email saying my account was successfully created but it did not include a serial number so far it’s been a big headache.. there needs to be a phone contact for tech support !

I would recommend this app. The quality of the piano sound is excellent and there’s a lot of possibilities to tweak such things as the sound of the sustained pedal hush and microphone placement in the virtual room. I think some more resources such as YouTube instructional videos might be helpful to get the best out of it.
