User Reviews

Users praise The Hit List for deep, flexible task management (nesting, smart folders, tagging) and strong keyboard-driven, language-based scheduling across Mac and iOS. However, recurring complaints center on years of no Mac updates, iOS instability, syncing problems, outdated device support, and poor/unclear support.
Pros
  • Extremely powerful and flexible task management with infinite nesting, folders and subtasks, and robust smart folders
  • Efficient keyboard-driven workflows and quick filing/goto features (keyboard shortcuts and quick navigation)
  • Natural language scheduling and strong recurring item support
  • Reliable data handling and low data loss; strong data integrity for typical use
  • Strong cross-platform synergy between Mac and iOS; the Mac app complements the mobile experience for power users
Cons
  • Mac version appears abandoned or never updated in years; Mac app often unavailable or not updated
  • iOS version is buggy and prone to crashes, with reports of white screens and launch failures
  • Unreliable syncing across devices with data corruption in subtasks and repeated install cycles needed
  • Lags behind modern devices/features (iPhone X support, recent hardware) and other apps
  • Support/QA issues and difficulty contacting the company; updates are infrequent

Mac version is no longer available on their web site or in the App Store. This one hasn’t been updated in 5 years. Unfortunate :-(

Everything in this app is PERFECT bro. The only drawback for me is the inability to manually or alphabetically organize the Lists tab. And I say this is a huge flaw because the Tags tab is alphabetically organized but not the Lists tab. I had to take a star off because of this! And this is coming from someone who is a huge practitioner of bullet journaling, GTD, and the 12-week year frameworks together. Oh and you can put sub-tasks within sub-tasks! This is REALLY useful if you’re a practitioner of the 12-week year book. It helped me organize my project tasks by week and then all I had to do next was move the project lists for my 12-week-year goals to a folder that focuses solely on one 12-week-year period at a time. But like I said, I wish I could reorganize the order of the folders and project lists. That would really help!
