User Reviews

Brass on iPad is a faithful, visually polished digital version with strong AI and helpful learning aids. Reviewers praise the faithful mechanics and offline play, but repeatedly cite unreliable online functionality, frequent crashes, and UX issues (including lack of undo and limited online game management) as major drawbacks.

Pros

  • Faithful digital adaptation of Brass: Lancashire with clear visuals and animations.
  • Strong AI provides a solid challenge for solo play.
  • Beautiful visuals, smooth interface, and clear move presentation.
  • Helpful learning aids and tutorials to learn the rules.
  • Enjoyable offline play against AI (good for practice).

Cons

  • Online registration/login and server issues make multiplayer unreliable.
  • Frequent crashes or freezes during games.
  • Not very intuitive UI and navigation, with awkward scrolling and notch handling.
  • No undo feature.
  • Online game management is limited (no search/filters, private games, new games list at bottom).
Recent reviews

This is a great digital implementation of what is now Brass: Lancashire. It is actually the original version of the game, predating Lancashire, but the two are very similar. The bots are okay for learning the basics, but their strategies are too rigid and basic to be good much beyond that. The biggest problem is that the online functionality doesn’t work. Which is a real shame.

Love this game! I wouldn't have learned how to play it though if i didn't have the physical version. The lack of a good tutorial is unfortunate.
