User Reviews

Users praise Fight Club 5e for deep customization, a robust compendium, and easy character management. It shines when you can add homebrew content, share sheets, and use a one-time purchase for unlimited characters. However, recurring complaints include inconsistent or missing search, data loss after updates, and unreliable backups. Many also note you must download content files to access 5e material, plus some iOS features lag behind Android. UI quirks and a learning curve appear in places. Overall it’s powerful, but users should back up work and be prepared for setup time.
Pros
  • Extremely customizable with support for homebrew and easy import/export of content
  • Rich compendium including official, unofficial, and homebrew options with a built-in rules reference
  • Easy-to-use character management that works well for campaigns and rolling stats
  • Affordable pricing model: one-time purchase unlocks unlimited characters and offers good value
  • Active community support and a companion DM app with straightforward sheet sharing/export
Cons
  • Inconsistent or missing search in some areas (not always intuitive when adding spells/equipment)
  • Data loss and stability issues: updates can delete custom content and the app can crash when saving large amounts of data
  • Unreliable backups and cloud sync: iCloud backups often don’t work and there’s no consistently reliable cloud backup
  • Content installation burden: you must download separate content files to access 5e material and setup can be heavy
  • Platform parity/UI gaps: iOS features lag behind Android and there are UI quirks and a learning curve

I have been using Fight Club for 3 years now and love it. It may not be as intuitive for the uninitiated as D&D Beyond, I don’t know, but it is far less annoying and money-gouging. Fight Club is simple and straightforward for building characters. I very much appreciate the creators’ willingness to be compatible with multiple compendiums that can be found online. If you are creating anything other than the standard original characters, for example using An Elf & An Orc Had a Baby or unofficial material, you will need to finagle things to make sure the math works, but once you’re set up, you’re good to go. Great app. Highly recommended.

An amazing character app that has a fantastic community support. i keep seeing reviews where ignorants bawl about how content is missing. hello, smooth brains, you’re demanding licensed content for an unlicensed app. To the mouth breather who said there is no search: USER ERROR. there’s a magnifying glass always available in each category. Stop playing D&D. Go back to chewing on your palm so you don’t swallow your tongue. The world is too complicated for you.

I’ve been using this app for about 5 years now and I love it. It does everything I need it to do after paying a small fee I can create unlimited characters. I have access to the base classes, races, spells feats, etc. But the great thing is that you can update everything adding all the official materials to the SRD foundation. It’s completely customizable and you can save files for backing up or swapping out rule sets. My only gripe is that the app still doesn’t get the multiclassing rules for spell slots right but I can adjust that manually.
