Buchla Easel Remote Control

I’m pleased to say that without updating the app it seems the virtual keyboard control of the 218e — and now the 208C internal MIDI bus — now works again if you firmware update the iProgramCard to version 63. Its available on the Buchla download web page. BTW the 218e needs to ‘remote enabled’ and 208C In Both in remote mode for that to work. I also discovered I could get WiFi working better after I was forced to use it because I lost my iPad ‘camera kit’ I was using for a cabled connection. WiFi problems were solved when I rebooted the app AFTER connecting to card via WiFi. Of course WiFi hardware antenna on the iProgramCard is still only 2.4GHz though, so won’t work for a 5Ghz network. But even then I could only move a fader at a time and it didn’t download programs without error UNTIL I rebooted the app. And this app still works on iOS 13! It’s not a perfect app, and an inverter and 208C looking edition would be nice. But it works well for me now. And it works on the 208C without need for the 218e! If you have or are considering an iProgramCard, this is still a useful graphical interface for creating new programs.

I wish I could say this app worked properly given the $1000 price of entry for an iProgram card. While the patching is mostly effective, the Midi Note functionality is strangely absent. Basically, the keyboard is useless in the latest version of the app.
