User Reviews

Users praise Tinnitus HQ for its broad, mixable sound library and powerful masking tools, plus a user-friendly interface and potential to ease tinnitus and aid sleep. Notable positives include customizable notch/bandpass filters and good compatibility with hearing aids. However, recurring concerns focus on value and access (many sounds locked behind paywalls), lack of precise left–right balance control, limited onboarding/instructions, and occasional stability issues. Overall it’s a highly capable tinnitus masking app with strong therapeutic potential, but improvements are needed in content access, guidance, stability, and finer controls.
Pros
  • Large, varied library of natural sounds with the ability to mix tracks
  • Advanced customization with notch and bandpass filters to tailor masking
  • Positive impact on tinnitus symptoms and sleep, calming and therapeutic
  • Good compatibility with hearing aids and use with headphones for masking
  • Easy-to-use interface with pleasant visuals and straightforward notch creation
Cons
  • Many sounds are locked behind paywalls, leading to concerns about value for money
  • Lack of precise left-right balance control and inconsistent playback across channels
  • Insufficient onboarding or usage guidance in-app, limited instructions
  • Occasional stability issues (app freezing/crashing) requiring reinstall
  • Desire for more precise notch controls (+/- adjustments) and per-file balance refinements

Just started using hearing aids for high frequency loss and very loud tinnitus. Some background noises make the tinnitus louder but the choices here allow adjustments and the range of noises mean I’ve found the perfect mask with birdsong.

So far acclimating to the sounds that either mimic the tinnitus or use a volume that rises above the sound of the tinnitus

Sometimes left side plays &sometimes right side. But both won’t work.
