Pros

Lutron/Caséta are expensive but top notch hardware.
The Lutron devices work well and I very rarely need to use the app.
Could not live without it now. How did I ever survive before?

Frequent connectivity issues / cannot connect to the Lutron system.
App is slow and resource-heavy, with long load times and reloading when returning to it.
Schedules and automations don’t work reliably; manual changes can be overridden and lights may flicker.
Dated, clunky UI with limited navigation; cannot reorder rooms/icons and basic customization is missing.
Missing iOS features like Home Screen widgets and geofencing reliability (and occasional iOS/compatibility issues).

2026-06-19	Bo*****	I’ve used a plug in module for my lamp in this system for more than 3 years and I loved it! It extended the life of the light bulbs on my floor lamp, and I didn’t have to change them more often.

2026-06-14	Na*****	My 2 complaints are 1 you can’t apparently use a voice command (with Alexis) to activate a “scene”. My other complaint is that there doesn’t seem to be a way to pre-program the Lutron light switch for a specific power level. It’s only on or off and then you can adjust the power level, but that’s a whole extra step. Otherwise I love the smart switches!

2026-06-08	ps*****	While Lutron hardware is fantastic, I’m surprised to see the gracious ratings of this app. If you actually look at it more critically, it is VERY slow and difficult to use. Every step of the app requires several steps of waiting—whether you are opening the app, adding a new fixture, or just doing routine maintenance like renaming and moving items around. In some cases, updates don’t save or it takes several seconds for an update to save while the UI is frozen. There needs to be a bigger effort from Lutron to improve their software performance in this regard. Additionally, but perhaps less important to performance, the app feels very dated, the UI needs to be refreshed and the lack of automatic dark mode should be fixed.

2026-05-24	19*****	After updating iOS the app will only occasionally connect while on the same network, never when I’m away, and geofencing no longer works. So, now my whole system is next to useless. The switches/devices are nice, but the app is 90% of the whole system. The app doesn’t work, and has apparently been an ongoing issue, so I’d stay away from the Lutron ecosystem.

2026-05-23	Jo*****	The newest app update re-ordered my rooms by alphabetical order. I had a specific order for all my rooms and it has been muscle memory for years. Now I have to figure out what my order was and manually re-order the rooms. Lutron this was a poor ux decision. Disappointed.

2026-05-17	bs*****	This app has become unusable in the past year. It freezes every time I open it, and restarting it fixes the issue. It seems like the app’s recovery from suspension is the problem. Please fix this issue as soon as possible. I’m not sure how many other users experience this, but given our investment in the ecosystem, this should not be an issue.

This is not acceptable. Especially not with all the AI tools at your disposal. If you cannot fix this problem please relieve yourself from your position and let someone who knows what they are doing. This app is too important to be this slow for too long. It’s been years like this. Stop messing around already and focus.

2026-05-13	Sk*****	Generally ok, but two things works make it much better: Add "off" time to schedules, not just on. And allow Scenes to be used in Schedules, rather than having to program the whole thing twice. Ok three- Allow something in Scenes ave Settings to have the same name, UNLESS the cross-use is allowed, in which that prohibition would actually make sense.
