BattleCry: World War Game

Played games similar to this in the past. There’s plenty of tasks and things to do to keep you busy! Build your character efficiently. All attack or all defense builds are generally the most fun. I’m a game developer as well so it’s great seeing the new changes DEVS have made to the game - clearly leaning in to make improvements and keep their player-base!

BattleCry has a fun core concept. Building your military, researching upgrades, joining alliances, and competing with other players can be genuinely enjoyable. Unfortunately, almost all of that is overshadowed by one major problem: the game is heavily pay-to-win. Players can purchase gold bars with real money, which gives them a massive advantage. Those gold bars can then be used to buy premium captains, powerful gold units, and other upgrades that free-to-play players simply can’t match in any reasonable amount of time. Instead of winning through strategy, planning, or long-term skill, many battles come down to who spent more money. A new player willing to spend hundreds of dollars can quickly surpass someone who has invested months or even years playing for free. The result is discouraging. Free-to-play players feel like they’re constantly playing catch-up, while paying players dominate the rankings with premium advantages that aren’t realistically obtainable through normal gameplay. I don’t mind games that offer cosmetic purchases or convenience items to support development. But when real money directly translates into overwhelming military power, competitive balance disappears. It stops being a strategy game and starts feeling like a spending contest. BattleCry has the foundation to be an excellent long-term strategy game, but until the developers address the overwhelming advantage that paid content provides, it’s difficult to recommend to anyone looking for a fair competitive experience. Rating: 3 stars Great idea. Poor competitive balance. If you’re willing to spend a lot of money, you’ll probably have fun. If you’re hoping skill and strategy are enough, you’ll likely be disappointed. The devs don’t care, “use your alliance and have your friends strategically help you!” What a joke lmao
