I think this is the perfect argument for why a buy once and learn forever system would have been better for this. Apparently my version is outdated so on the app the parts where you’re supposed to pick the picture that goes with the word - literally none of the pictures load. Just black boxes. For a BEGINNERS course they’re oddly picky about spelling and grammar like “bano” is marked wrong because you didn’t use the ñ when the reality is most English keyboards don’t produce Spanish characters like that as easily. What this does is harms retention because you don’t know it’s wrong because of that so then you start guessing if you used the wrong word etc. In Level 1 it should be about warming someone up into the language and getting them comfortable and familiar not being a spelling, grammar and conjugation police. And interestingly enough there’s no lessons that cover conjugations you’re just supposed to know or figure it out. On audio lessons the voices are garbled, mumbled and run whole sentences together in a way where there’s words they’re not clearly saying but they’re supposedly there. Again, we have a conflict because when you’re listening it’s best to do hear things 3 times but when we are listening to write what we hear we get that once and at lightning speed. The slow speed button is sarcasm because there’s no discernible difference between on and off IMO. And that may be how native speakers talk but in a beginners course the focus should be on slowing things down to improve retention. You can speed it up in levels 2 etc. Because the app was not loading whole parts of lessons properly I discovered you can also take the courses online but that system also feels extremely dated (again the argument for having one version of the course that’s up to date versus having to manage who bought what when and having these versions that we are obviously not keeping up with). The web interface is slow and buggy. I complete modules and it says parts are incomplete. There’s a delay after you submit answers or when you press play to hear the audio before it actually begins. There’s also a delay when trying to type what you hear which again because of the speed this causes misspellings because I’m typing and there’s hesitation and then it spits out letters and the cursor ends up jumping to the beginning when it finally catches up so then the word order is not how you typed it. And of course if they’re not just right or course it gets marked wrong. The whole wrong answer approach is one that is more frustrating than educational. This is something EVERY language app gets wrong - it’s just nope that’s not it. Try again. How about feedback like WHY the answer was wrong versus just answer here it is. If someone’s consistently getting something wrong like conjugating estar there’s no call out to inform and educate it’s just more nope that’s not it. Also no way to drill in and develop these lacking fundamentals. The mission to find a decent app to learn Spanish continues. I’ve tried DuoLingo, Babbel and now Fluenz and because everyone copies the same goofy mistakes that are harming retention I’m still feeling like I don’t know as much even though according to Babbel and DuoLingo based on my progress levels I’m “fluent.”

How can i buy paid version, there is no option for that and everything is locked.
