User Reviews

The Iridium Go iOS app is consistently criticized for instability, frequent crashes, and failing to connect to the hardware after updates. Users report messaging problems (order, timestamps, plus-number handling) and overall poor UX, including small text and lack of landscape mode. While reviewers acknowledge the hardware’s potential as a satellite communicator, the current app undermines it with repeating bugs, poor reliability, and concerns about cost and support. Overall, the hardware is praised in principle, but the app repeatedly fails to meet user expectations.
Pros
  • The Iridium Go hardware is praised as a capable satellite communicator.
  • Phone calls can work when the app connects, indicating basic calling capability.
  • Reviewers acknowledge the hardware’s potential for remote/satellite communication.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and instability across iOS devices.
  • Connectivity and pairing failures after updates; the app often cannot connect to the device.
  • Messaging is unreliable: out-of-order timestamps, misordered messages, plus-number handling issues, and slow message delivery.
  • Poor UI/UX: small text, confusing controls, lack of landscape mode on iPad, and blank/limited interfaces in some versions.
  • Perceived poor value due to bugs, reliability issues, and high cost.
Recent reviews
Rented an Iridium. This might have been all the talk of 2014 but the hardware and this app feels antiquated and disconnected. You CAN get satellite coverage to work if you follow linear and unintuitive steps on a technical tightrope. This product is ripe to be improved upon and superseded by a wide margin.
