User Reviews

Users praise the app for remote control of multiple thermostats, real-time energy data, and overall feature richness. It’s also valued for accessibility and multi-property use. However, a core recurring issue is reliability: frequent disconnects between the app and thermostat, repeated login prompts, and occasional failures to send/reflect changes. Compatibility with older iOS devices is a noted gripe, as is reconnection with mesh networks. These stability problems largely undermine the otherwise strong functionality.
Pros
  • Remote control of multiple Sensi thermostats from anywhere
  • Real-time energy consumption data and insights accessible in the app
  • App offers more features and control than the wall unit
  • Ability to manage thermostats across different properties from a single app
  • Accessibility and ease of use (useful for wheelchair users; simple heating/cooling switching)
Cons
  • Frequent disconnects between the app and thermostat (Wi‑Fi/thermostat dropouts) requiring restarts or resets
  • Repeated login prompts; sessions do not stay signed in for long
  • Compatibility/update issues with older iOS versions/devices (no longer works with certain updates)
  • App sometimes fails to send commands or reflects changes incorrectly, requiring resets
  • Connectivity/reconnection challenges with mesh networks or new routers (painful to reconfigure)

We had to replace our WiFi and it refuses to connect to the thermostat

I use this thermostat for my air bnb and I love the access. That way between guests my unit isn’t running non stop. Very easy to setup and use app

The app itself is clean and easy to navigate, but there is a significant gap in functionality that cost me a real use case. I bought the Sensi room sensor specifically so I could prioritize my bedroom temperature at night and switch back to the thermostat during the day. Simple concept, and exactly the kind of thing a smart home app should handle automatically. It does not. Sensor prioritization is completely manual. There is NO WAY to schedule which sensor is active at which time of day. Every morning and every night you have to open the app and manually toggle the sensor selection yourself. For a smart thermostat app in 2026, this is a surprising omission and misleading on the Amazon listing. The marketing highlights the bedroom sensor as a great tool for sleeping comfort, which is true as long as you remember to switch it on and off every morning for the rest of your life. The app has a semi-robust scheduling (at least 8 schedule events, no more than like 12 and it’s picky on increments), so the infrastructure is clearly there. Extending the same scheduling logic to the sensors should not be a heavy lift. Until this gets added, the room sensor is useful only if you want a permanent static setup. Anyone expecting time-based automation will be disappointed.
