User Reviews

OpenSnow is praised for accurate, detailed forecasts and rich ski-focused data, plus an intuitive interface and global location coverage. Common drawbacks include pricing changes and perceived bait-and-switch, inconsistent long-range accuracy, a steep learning curve from many features, and some map/UI criticisms.
Pros
  • Highly accurate and detailed forecasts, including snow and rain, supported by advanced models.
  • Comprehensive, ski-focused data—snow totals, hourly forecasts, snow reports, cams, trail maps, radar, and elevation-aware mountain-top data.
  • Intuitive, user-friendly interface that makes planning ski days easy and navigation straightforward.
  • Global coverage with easy comparison across locations and customizable alerts/favorites.
Cons
  • Pricing changes and subscription shifts (moving from All-Access to Base/Premium and higher costs) felt like bait-and-switch.
  • Forecast accuracy can be inconsistent, with long-range predictions sometimes unreliable.
  • Feature-overload can create a steep learning curve and some navigation/UI clutter.
  • Some map/UI elements receive criticism (radar legend aesthetics and map layer presentation) and there are missing features like grouping or organizing locations.
Recent reviews
OpenSnow excels in forecasting conditions of snow fall and the quality of fresh powder and other snow conditions that matter to all snow sports. But they also excel and seem to have the best and most detailed rain and cloud forecasts at my home, where it doesn't snow. In 2026 the quality of their machine, learning models seems to be the best in the industry.

Literally every feature I could want and way more. Forecasts are dead accurate, snow reports are dialed, cams load fast, and the favorites setup makes checking my home mountains effortless. I use it before every ski day — wouldn’t plan a trip without it. Easy 5 stars.

Good for planning, when moisture and snow will come through. I like the interactive chart and how real meteorologistst make daily reports
