Users like the app for international sumo fans, with a broad match archive and glossary, but complain about heavy ads, confusing UI, and high premium pricing. The app’s strengths include a long match catalog, easy tracking of favourite rikishi, and timely updates. Recurrent concerns focus on intrusive free advertising, spoiler-prone thumbnails, landscape mode removal, and limited English support. Overall, it’s a solid hub for sumo, but the free tier is an irritant and the paywall may deter many fans.
Pros
Great for international sumo fans to follow tournaments and rikishi.
Glossary helps users learn sumo terminology.
Access to years of match catalog and clear tournament progression.
Stable, well-updated app with decent performance.
Premium pricing is reasonable for some users (value varies).
Cons
Ad-heavy free version with intrusive ads (pre-rolls, banners, pop-ups; porn ads).
Premium pricing is perceived as overpriced.
Clunky UI/UX: unclear navigation, no auto-play, landscape mode removed.
Spoilers: match results shown early on home page/thumbnails; need an option to hide results.
Limited English support and localization; confusing for non-Japanese users.

Full of spam advertising. Never use to be like that.

This new font is very distracting, too heavy. Is this a bug in the app?

This isn’t the NHK app so there is no commentary. That’s okay for what it is. The finally added an option to hide spoilers when you are viewing the torikumi, but there are still spoilers on the home page! That’s the only improvement I can think of. Otherwise great, the paid version is a must, free ads are just too long when most bouts are 10 seconds.
