Features & Capabilities

TruLink Hearing Control connects your Made for iPhone hearing aids to iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch for seamless streaming of calls, music, FaceTime, and videos with pristine sound quality. It supports Made for iPhone hearing aids from Starkey, Audibel, NuEar, MicroTech, and AGX Hearing when purchased through a hearing care professional.

Features include personalized, geo-tagged memories that can auto-change based on location (for example, a Coffee Shop memory when you enter a café), automatic car-mode adaptations during travel, recording and emailing live sound, Siri reading emails and texts through the hearing aids, and iPhone-based control of volume and memories. It also helps locate lost hearing aids. Note: Continued GPS use in the background can reduce battery life.

User Reviews

TruLink Hearing Control shows strong value when it works, offering personalization and location-based settings, plus Bluetooth streaming. However, the majority of reviews report chronic reliability problems: frequent disconnections, difficulty detecting aids, crashes, and compatibility issues with newer iPhones, iOS, and Apple Watch. Users also note a lack of timely updates and some consider switching to Thrive. Overall sentiment is negative due to stability and compatibility issues, with few recurring positives beyond basic features.
Pros
  • Location-based settings and personalization are appreciated when the app works.
  • Bluetooth streaming for calls and media through hearing aids is a desired feature when functional.
  • Some users report good initial pairing/compatibility on certain iPhone models (e.g., iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max).
  • Customer support from Starkey can resolve issues via email (positive experience in some cases).
Cons
  • Frequent connectivity issues: hearing aids not discovered, dropouts, need to reconnect or reinstall.
  • Frequent crashes and instability; app often stops staying connected; 'circle of death' during Bluetooth pairing.
  • Compatibility problems with newer iPhone/iOS versions (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro Max; latest OS updates) and with Apple Watch; poor long-term support.
  • App outdated and not updated for years; perceived lack of active development; some users directed to Thrive app.
  • Inconsistent performance across devices: sometimes only one aid connected, need to restart, and problems persist.

It won’t connect to my hearing aids. Keeps disconnecting and now it’s none discoverable

The find my aid doesn’t even find the one in your hand!

This new version of the app is the worst. The app worked great with my Apple IPhone 13 Pro Max but it doesn’t work with the 15 Pro Max. It won’t detect the hearing aids and I have no way of adjusting them by use of the Bluetooth on my phone. I wish I had kept my 13 now. I loved the old version of the app
