User Reviews

Users praise easy login, a clean UI, and convenient holds/renewals, with many calling it the best library app they've used. But reliability is a recurring problem: glitches, slow performance after updates, and blank shelves. Major pain points include no in-app notifications for holds or due dates, unreliable search (misspellings, filtering, author searches), and UX changes that confuse users. Some features are missing or awkward (audiobooks with Apple Music, in-app reviews/author links). Overall, there are clear improvements, but stability and feature completeness still lag behind user needs.
Pros
  • Easy login process and clean, user-friendly UI.
  • Convenient management of holds, renewals, and shelf checks.
  • Accessible and easy to read/navigate content when the app works.
  • Some users rate it as the best library app they've used, indicating strong satisfaction when functioning.
  • Good for accessing ebooks and reading on the go.
Cons
  • Frequent glitches, slow performance, timeouts, and blank shelves.
  • No in-app notifications for holds or due dates (relying on email instead).
  • Unreliable search: misspellings not corrected, limited filtering, poor author/title search.
  • UX updates that made the app confusing and slower after updates.
  • Missing or awkward features (e.g., audiobook access with Apple Music, in-app reviews/author links).

Love the KCLS, but wish their technology worked more consistently. Unfortunately, what *is* reliable is how UNreliable the app is: keeps logging you out, constant sign in issues… the poke in the eye is that the failed sign in attempts via the app count against you if you give up on the app and try to log in via a desktop computer.

They’ve fixed the last issues I mentioned but issues still remain: the Return book function doesn’t work from the app anymore, which extends wait times. I wish the search bar was coded less narrowly to correct for misspellings or allow for less than exact search terms.
